Custom domains in Azure :S In azure is a broad scope. A custom domain can be added to things like Azure AD and to websites (app services). I run a few websites for clients hosted at yourhosting.nl. So I bought my new domain aroundconnections.nl (yes, it’s still available:) there and just added it to an existing account. Now the trick is to add DNS records for AD and the app services. I played around with some forwarding rules, but this was actually new to me (new things are one of the mean reasons for my blog). I entered a TXT-record on the yourhosting side so that Azure AD could verify the domain. For this site I also entered an A-record and a TXT-record. Cloud resources don’t always come with fixed ip’s and these can change on the fly. Especially when changing your subscription, region or in fail situations. So I actually recommend using CNAME-records which don’t depend on ip’s. If this is your cup of tea than here’s some more.
